Good News Gang

The Good News Gang (young persons group for ages 5 to 15) met at the Church Room on Thursday to start the art-work, drama and music for the St Piran's Day show (Sunday 6th March at 3:30pm in the church).

We started by making lots of Cornish Choughs who will star in our puppet play. We then told our own good news - lots of great happenings from completed school work to plans for favourite food. Then we read through the script for the puppet play and sang our new St Piran's Day songs.

If you'd like to join in, come along to the next GNG on Thursday 3rd March at 5:15 in the Church Room.

GOOD NEWS GANG

On Thursday the 6th January at 5:15 the Good News Gang (young persons group for 5-15 yr olds) met in the church. Our theme was the visit of the Wise Men and we made some dish-mop puppets. In all, there were puppets for the three Wise Men, two Priests in King Herod's court, and King Herod himself. The GNG performed a play based on the story in Matthew.
We also practised the hymns for the Family Service on Sunday 16th January, and told each other about our good news.

The next GNG meeting
will be on Thursday 3rd Feb in the Perranuthnoe Church Room at 5:15.

Lilian's Farewell

It is with mixed emotions that we have said farewell to the Revd. Lilian Hall as she leaves to take up her new post as Associate Priest in Loveden Deanery, Lincolnshire.
We here at Perranuthnoe Church were delighted that Lilian Celebrated Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve with us, a truly memorable occassion. At the end of this service we presented Lilian with a Glass Candle Holder and Card signed by Church and Community friends.

The text of that said at the presentation follows:

"Lilian as this is your last official service in the Benefice, we thank you for being with us on this very special night, and for the love, support and guidance that you have given to all of us over these past years.
And as small token of our thanks we would like you to accept this candle to remind you of Perranuthnoe Parish, its villages, its people and of course, its Church.
We hope that it will also remind you of the monthly Christian Meditation that you provided, which meant so much to those who attended.
So we wish you God Speed, and God’s blessings on your ministry in Lincolnshire – our loss will most certainly be their gain.
Thank you and God Bless"

The solid glass candle holder.
Lilian asked that the following thank you be conveyed:

"Please pass on to everyone at Perran my thanks for the lovely gift. I will think of you all whenever I use it, and how appropriate that lighting a candle will bring memories of the joy and love and fun I've enjoyed at Perran - and the peace too, particularly remembering the monthly meditation. With love Lilian"

The final celebrations and farewell took place during the Epiphany Service in Ludgvan CHurch and the "bring and share" lunch that followed in the Murley Hall.

Good News Gang - News

The snow and ice prevented the Good News Gang meeting on Thursday 2nd December, but we helped to decorate the church for the Advent Family Service on Sunday 5th Dec. As well as hanging all the pew ends with flowers, we edged the main aisle with paper flowers to prepare the way for Christ. We also did some Advent Colouring Sheets. "Prepare ye the way of the Lord" started our service and the GNG shared the Bible readings, read in parts so that everyone was involved.

Cancelled CHRISTMAS QUIZ

With regret the Winter weather forced us to cancel (or perhaps we should say postpone) our Christmas Quiz Night. But not to worry all is in place to run the Quiz in the New Year when we can call it the "Post Christmas Quiz" or maybe the "New Year Quiz" - much will depand on our Quiz Master Martin !
We owe a huge THANK YOU to Lavenders Delicatessen who were to have supplied our Pasties - when we finally had to cancel the Quiz we asked them to deliver the pasty order to a home address; they very kindly cancelled the order without penalty.
Looking forward to seeing you all in the New Year.
