Poems from the Family Service 15th November

At the Good News Gang meeting they read the Old Testament reading and had a go at bringing the message " be ready for Jesus, be prepared" into the modern day with more meaningful symbols than the oil lamps and ten brides waiting for one bridegroom. Here are the poems and rhymes they created:

Logs in a basket
Ready to Burn,
Give the fire a turn,
Smile and be happy, don't look down.

The fire is ablaze
Like God's love
He looks downat us from above
Be prepared to see Jesus' love.
by Rob & Tom

I've got a great idea
I want to write it down
I want to send it off
To my friend in the next town
But I've run out of paper
And that really makes me frown
Be prepared.
by Max

You might not be a groom,
And you might not be a bride
You might not have a oil lamp by your side
But stay well charged and be ready to see
The love of Jesus where-ever you may be.

St Petroc's Society

"Nobody should be homeless at Christmas"

St Petroc's Society, based in Truro, provides safe, warm and comfortable houses where the homeless individuals can take time to address the various issues in their lives.

However, the Society also sees their role as not just putting a short term roof over their heads. It looks to see how they can assist them in overcoming often major issues, this support is given in-house and when necessary through links with specialist partner organisations.

If you would like to support the work of this very worthy Christian Charity, gift envelopes are available at back of the Church.

DON'T LET TIME STAND STILL !!

Perranuthnoe Church Clock mechanism is supported on two RSJs which have corroded against the wall as can be seen in this photograph.
An independant Structural Engineer has advised that they need replacement within the next year.
To remove, set aside and reinstate the movement by the Cumbria Clock Co Ltd and replace the RSJs will cost between £3,500 - £4,000.
Many thanks to all who walked on behalf of the "Support the Clock Appeal" in the Rotary Ramble on Sunday 20th September. You raised an AMAZING £1000 - fantastic !! Many thanks to all members of the Rotary Club of Penzance for organising such a excellent event - and again ordered just the right weather !
