Ring out the Bells

Ringing all the bells

Perranuthnoe welcomed the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
At precisely 8.12am on Friday 27th July the Perranuthnoe's Church Bells rang out for 3 minutes together with thousands of church bells across the country - this was followed at 11am by a wonderful collection of BELLS of every shape and sound in the Church which rang for 3 memorable minutes. Annie then led everyone in a rousing sing a long.

Summer Teas - "special visitors"

Over the past 20 years many people will have seen the delightful painting in the Church Room of a "Summer Tea" This painting was given to the Church by the artist Humphrey Noall in exchange for a tea in 1992 - what a bargain ! The idea of producing a Greetings Card from this image required the artist to give us copy right permission to use the image for this purpose. Sadly we learned that Humphrey Noall had died, but managed to locate his daughter Tina who gave us the permission required. On Thursday 19th July we were delighted to welcome Tina, her brother Mark (central couple) and other members of the family to a Summer Tea, which enabled them to see this picture for the first time.

Greetings Cards of this delightful picture are now on sale at a "special price" of £1 each during the 10 weeks of the Summer Teas.

Pilgrimage to St Michael's Mount

Olympic Torch Pilgimage to St Michael's Mount 20th May 2012

Bishop Tim and the Rev Steve Wild went to Land's End to kindle the Churches Together In Cornwall's own flame took a flame lit from the Chapel Carn Brea Beacon.
This symbolised the Christian Gospels being brought into Conwall by the first celtic Missionaries. Those present prayed for the light of the Gospel to be rekindled again in Cornwall.
From the flame of the beacon, 12 lamps were lit for distribution to each of the 12 Deaneries in the county.
The 4 Churches in our Benefice (Perranuthnoe, Ludgvan, Marazion and St Hilary) lit their own Humphrey Davy lamps and use them in the Olympic Torch Pilgimage to St Michael's Mount on Sunday 20th May.
The "Pigrims" from Perranuthnoe setting off on their journey to Marazion and St Michael's Mount, led by Revd. Canon Frank Tanner with the Humphry Davy lamp carried by Tom.

After holding a service in the garden of St Michael's Mount, one of the lamps was taken up to the Chapel where it remained. The Pilgims retraced there steps across the causeway and together enjoyed the fellowship of the picnic on the Folly Field - a very memorable and spiritually significant day.
